Peer pressure to keep up with technology. Online security

Online security helps you to be protected against any virus’ and any other stuff they may damage the run of your computer it can take a long time to load though but in the long term it is very useful. In schools most homework is set or put up for students to access on the internet but if you don’t have a computer it would be hard to access the homework. Also if your friends were to keep saying you to get it and you finally did it would make your life a lot easier at school. But it is equally annoying and upset when your ‘friends’ and making fun of you as you don’t have a specific piece of technology. It can be horrible for people to keep pushing to get or do something you don’t want to for example if you don’t have a good iPod or what they don’t consider good they may be horrible and say you need to get a new one even if you don’t want one.

Different types of advertising (magazine, TV, radio, billboards and the internet)

There are so many different types of advertising around some of them being magazine, TV, billboards and internet. Having all these types of advertising it is very easy to find a good deal or what is on sale. All adverts are created by some sort of technology and are sometimes displayed with technology too, by using the technology we have these days it makes the adverts look very neat and appealing to the public eye wanting people to buy it more. But the down sides to advertising are it costs a lot of money to make the advert and to get the equipment to do so. Also it can be annoying when there are ad breaks ever 15 minutes but this is how the TV and radio companies are able to run.

Google, Wikipedia

Google and Wikipedia are really good search engines on the internet you can type in anything and get a result almost instantly. It is extremely fast for the fact that you type in a question or something and it comes up with thousands of websites and links to what you are trying to find. The only problem with this is that when you type something in anything can come up can sometimes be inappropriate especially for young minds to see. Also some important personal or secret information could be stumbled across causing people to argue or become upset.

3D cinema/virtual reality

In this day and age there are new technologies coming out all of the time two of these being 3D cinema which allows us to feel more involved with what is going on in the film for example in a turtle’s tale you actually feel that you are swimming with all the fish and turtles. Also the other one is virtual reality. Virtual reality is where you have a picture made on the computer of say a person but it looks like a real person. It has been tested to see if you can tell between the two at this point you can but in a few years it would have developed and you won’t be able to tell. If some people were to believe it was actually real they could get hurt or ill also this equipment is extremely expensive.

Cable TV, plasma, size and cost

Nowadays most people have a TV in their homes and there is a scheme that by 2012 everyone who has a TV will have digital TV. The benefits of cable TV’s are that you can watch TV from all over the world and all through day and night TV is now 24/7. TV screens are very good quality some are even HD and 3D but these features are relatively new. The negatives are that all the TV’s especially plasma TV is very expensive to buy and some people can’t afford to buy them. Also some people don’t have the facilities to put in an Ariel therefore aren’t able to have some of the TV.

Nintendo, PlayStation, Sony Wii fit, Online gaming, portable devises

All this technology is for gaming and for people’s entertainment. Online gaming is good as there are so many games to choose from on each of websites but it comes with some risks like the risk of finding some inappropriate things on there especially if they are younger children.  With the Wii fit people can keep fit from the comfort of their own home, where they think that no one is judging and watching them but by doing the exercise at home they don’t benefit from the social things of when you go to the gym. The Nintendo 3DS is a good piece of gaming software as the graphics are really good and realistic but they are making children who use them on the 3D part sick which is a real down side.

Impact of Face book, MySpace, Twitter, You tube and EBay

Face book has different views on to it because some people think it is great as they can communicate with their friends and talk about their life also with twitter and MySpace. The negatives to Face book and twitter is that sometimes personal and unwanted information can be published for everyone to see, also people can get cyber bullied through these sort of sites. EBay and sites like these are sites that you can buy something a click away as long as you have card details you can use to purchase the item. There are also negatives to this as well by using your card details people can get your details and spend your money also when you buy the item you can’t see it only through a picture the seller has taken you have to trust the seller that the item isn’t faulty or illegal.

Steve Jobs, Apple (iPhone, iPad etc.) mobile phone technology

Apple has extremely good technology in all their products, they focus on the entertainment side of technology as they have music, film, TV but also they have mobile technology. Having all this technology especially in mobile phone technology it is making it so much easier to communicate with people 2 miles or 200 miles away, for instance if you were in an emergency help is just a call away whereas before you would have had to find someone by your self. But there are negatives for example mobiles and other technology can be expensive to buy and some people can't afford it, also it is going in the opposite direction to the old fashioned way of writing a letter or speaking to some one face to face.
